Well, the other mice probably said that living with Cinderella was good eatin’. We get corn and, boy, is it good. The thing is that the cat was in our way today, and I had to make him follow me, so that the other mice could go and get food.
Oh, did I tell you that a mouse got trapped in a mouse trap and we let him stay with us? When he came back the cat caught him with his eyes and tried to catch him. Well, the cat must be stupid, because he didn’t.
Well, you see the mouse that he tried to catch was really fat. Somehow he got mixed up with the tea cups and the cat tried to catch him.
Cinderella’s mean stepsisters wanted their tea so Cinderella gave it to them. The stepsister who got me in her tea cup threw me and stepped on my tail. Boy, can that woman YELL!!! She hurt my little ears!
Suddenly I ran for the door and under the door and do you know what? That cat stepped right on me. I was tired of being stepped on.
Good thing that Cinderella was there! When I got out from under that cat, I hit its foot two times. Would you think that was enough?
My buddy and I were back in a hole listening to what Cinderella was going to do to the cat. I told my buddy I wish they were nicer to Cinderella and me.
She was going to do a lot of things, but I liked the last thing. It was to wash the cat. “He deserves it. Ha, Ha, Ha!!!”.
When Cinderella was starting the bath, a letter came about a ball. When Cinderella finished reading, she just about ran over me.
One of her stepsisters was playing the flute. Her other stepsister was playing something. It sounded really bad!!! Her stepsisters started to fight over it, but Cinderella’s stepmother said something like, “If you finish your housework, and if you get something else done. . . . ”
Well, her stepmother made her lots and lots of work. So we tried to make the dress. My buddy and I got some things to make the dress. We got beads and some cloth, but it was not easy to get.
The cat was sleeping on the table, but we woke him up. He started chasing us with the cloth, but we made it into the hole. The cat sat on the beads, so I went to try and get him off.
The other mouse tried to get the beads when the cat got off. I was popping buttons off of something. It worked some, but the cat dragged the beads with him. I popped a bead and it made a mark on the cat’s nose.
The cat tried to get me, but I got away. The cat ran into a sleeve and got caught in it. He tried to catch us when the necklace broke. He almost did. If it wasn’t for that sleeve, he might have gotten us. We got the things up and we finished the dress.
When Cinderella saw the dress she was HAPPY!!! When Cinderella went down to go with her stepsisters, we saw them grab the beads.
After that we ran as fast as we could. We scared them so much that they tore all the dress and ran to the carriage. Cinderella ran to the yard and cried.
A fairy godmother saw her and Cinderella jumped. “Well,” said the fairy godmother, “You are in a mess.” Cinderella looked shocked to me or maybe I was dizzy from running after her. The fairy godmother said, “Do you have something red?”
Cinderella said, “We have red peppers.”
| “Great,” said the fairy godmother. Cinderella got a big ripe red pepper. The fairy godmother said, “Stand back.” Then she said the magic words. Still right next to them was a red convertible. It was lovely! |

The fairy turned my friend and me into the helpers and the driver. It was so cool to have hands. The fairy said, “Stay until 1:00 a.m.”
When Cinderella got to the ball it was like she was in there for a day. She almost let the time slip up. Good thing she saw the clock. It was 12:59.
She got to the car, but one of her shiny earrings fell out. So she never took the other earring out. One day a man came to Cinderella’s house. The man had the earring that Cinderella had lost. Her stepmother knew it was hers and she locked Cinderella in a closet.
Cinderella tried to get out, but she couldn’t. We started at once to help, but the stepmother put the latch down. It took some strength to get it up. We got it up right as the man was leaving. The stepmother tried to make them go away, but they came back in.
They checked the earring and, sure thing, they were the
same. The Prince married Cinderella. Did I tell you that rice was
good? Well, they lived happily ever after.
