Getting to Banoak A Guide for Traveling to Banoak from Hickory, North Carolina Overview Banoak Elementary School is located on Highway 10 between Highways 127 and 18 (as it runs through Lincoln County) in the southwest corner of Catawba County. Details From Interstate 40 Exit 123 south of Hickory, head south away from Hickory toward Lincolnton and Brookford. This is US 321 South. Take the first exit ramp to the right. This will lead to NC 127 South. (Even if coming from US 70 and passing under I-40, it is not necessary to merge with southbound traffic on US 321.) At the top of the hill on NC 127 there is a stoplight. Continue south, straight through the intersection and through three other stoplights. The first four stoplights are all in the Mountain View community. The distance from the first to the fifth stoplight is about six miles. Be aware that the distance between the fourth and fifth stoplights is greater than the distance between any of the other stoplights. Along the way, there is a bridge in a valley that crosses a creek. (This is Jacobs Fork Creek.) The fifth stoplight is at the intersection of NC 10 and NC 127. (To the left is Newton.) Turn right at the Exxon station. This is Propst Crossroads. (See map below.) Heading southwest on NC 10, travel about four miles. Banoak Elementary School is on the left. It is marked by a large water tower that may be seen from the straight stretch of highway approaching the school. Map
