Brookford

1700 South Center Street

Hickory, NC 28602

(828) 322-4903

Originally a cotton mill town, the Brookford community is located south of Hickory's city limits and accommodates approximately 500 people.   The community received its name from the owners of the cotton mill - Shuford and Holbrook.  Brookford was established in 1907.

The Community Center houses a miniature train display operated by a local resident.  The original operator died and the display is currently run by his descendants.  Other popular attractions for the younger residents are the karate school and the community ball field, which has been used since the 1930s.
