Vocabulary-Basics
Icon-a small box on the screen that represents available activities
Buttons-a box or symbol to be clicked on in order to proceed through a program
Cursor-a highlighted mark that indicates your location on the screen
Clicking-pressing and releasing the mouse button

Double-clicking-clicking the mouse buttons twice (quickly)
Dragging-moving the mouse with the mouse button held down
Highlighting-clicking and holding the mouse button down while dragging the cursor over desired data to be “selected”

3 mouse skills-point, click, drag
Menu bar-the line near the top of the screen that gives you your choices
Scroll bar-narrow strips along the sides of a window that allow you to move through the text
Dialogue box-a box displayed on the screen that you are asked to respond to

Title Bar-the line at the top of the screen that gives the name of your file
Status Line-the line at the bottom of the screen that tells you the page you are on and give you other helpful information

<backspace>-erases all characters to the left of the cursor
<delete>-erases all characters to the right of the cursor
<caps lock>-causes all letters to be capitalized
