Greetings from Bandys High School, Did you know that Bandys High School… is the only high school in the Catawba County Public School System to achieve all three of the following honors for the 2004-05 school year: School of Distinction, a North Carolina educational award; ABC honoree, a North Carolina educational award; AYP (annual yearly progress) honoree, a federal award based on the "No Child Left Behind" legislation. reports $4,549,931 in scholarship monies for graduating seniors over the past five years. employs 80 certified staff members. has experienced a near 25% increase in student population (over 200 students) in the past five years. Because of the overwhelming growth, Bandys is the only high school in the Catawba County Public School System that does not have an academic computer lab. With four mobile classroom units, and with almost every classroom being in constant use throughout the day, the school has no room, literally no room, to house an academic computer lab. Bandys’ students deserve access to this educational necessity! Judith Ray, Chief Technology Officer for Catawba County Schools, is aware of this situation and is willing to help. She has indicated that if Bandys High School can raise the money for a 16-unit mobile lab, she will order an additional 16-unit lab. We need your help! Your financial assistance could help us attain this goal. By pooling the financial contributions of the community and the school, the students could have access to a state-of-the-art, Internet-accessible, 32-station mobile computer lab; thus, transforming any classroom into an academic computer lab. Balls Creek Optimist Club has graciously given a $900.00 technology gift. Please join them as we all work together to raise $24,000.00, the cost of a 16-computer mobile lab. As a way of showing our gratitude, the school will display the names and/or logos of contributing companies and individuals on the cart which houses the lab. All contributions should be made payable to Bandys High School. Please make a notation of "technology" on the check. Mail to Bandys High School, Attn. Gail Little, School Secretary, 5040 E. Bandys Road, Catawba, NC 28609. With sincere thanks,
Carla Lail Technology Committee Chair |
