Tiger Wrestling
Expectations and Rules
-Be at school on time, and do what you are suppose to do.
You can't play any sports without meeting
your attendance and academic requirements.
-Be at practice on time, and practice like
you want to win.
You can't be very good by going through the
motions. This sport requires every bit of your body and mind.
-Most practice days we will have Study Hall in the library until 3:40.
While in the library you are to do your homework, do make-up work, or read.
You must be quiet and do what the teacher in the library tells you to do.
If we aren't having study hall; an
announcement will be made.
You will leave as a group at 3:35, get
dressed for practice, and be ready to start practice at 3:45.
-Normal practices (ones in which we are in school) will go from 3:45-5:45. Have your ride here no later then 6:00pm.
-If you are going to be absent from school or practice, then I must know by 8:30am. You can email me at: mike_carey@catawba.k12.nc.usor call me at school (704) 462-1496, and talk to me personally.
-If you are late to practice, then you must have a teacher's note. All other tardies will result in 50 updowns after practice.
-If you are absent from practice, match, or tournament for any reason, then
you will have 100 updowns per practice missed. This is a hard rule, but we
need to make every effort to be at practice even if we aren't 100%.
If you sign out early, then you must come
let me know in person that you won't be at practice.
-Failure to let me know of a tardy or absence results in an additional 50 updowns to the above policies. For example, if you are absent from practice, and didn't let me know, then you would have 150 updowns the next practice.
-If you are injured; then please contact me asap. Understand there is a
difference between being hurt and being injured. This sport can almost
guarantee that you will be hurt some this year. I expect you to battle
through being
"hurt" at times, but if you are injured,
then please communicate this with me.
-You are expected to make weight if you tell the team/coach that you would.
I won't ever ask you to "cut" much weight, and the state of North Carolina
won't allow anything unhealthy to happen with their mandatory weight loss
plan. However, you are expected to be at your weight class for all
matches. Not making weight is a selfish act.
Always bring a healthy snack to eat/drink
after weigh-ins.
-Be respectful and positive towards teammates, classmates, opponents,
teachers, and administrators.
You represent your family, the school and
this wrestling program, and I want you to take pride in that fact.
-Be the very best that you can be. Never settle for something less then you are.
