Quote for the Month: |
|
:
"When
we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we
often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or
cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm
and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair
or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who
can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the
reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares." Henri Nouwen |

Thought for the month: |
|
This month as you all know is the month
of love. Without love the world would and can become extinct as we know it!
As the years go by, maybe its just me, but I feel more and more like people
are looking after themselves, forgetting to look after others. Making
decisions that will only benefit themselves, forgetting about that neighbor
who might need a helping hand. In our schools, we as teacher assistants
have the awesome opportunity to teach our children not only the academics
that they need to succeed in life, but also the skills to love each other so
our communities can be a safe, loving and productive place to live. But how
can we possibly do that when we are not good role models, putting ourselves
first in our own daily decision making. The children of Catawba County need
us more than ever now with the cuts backs in education, parents losing their
jobs and homelessness on the rise. Learning starts with love and
compassion, with the ending results of a child that is happy, healthy
and filled with self worth. Let us take the time to stop, even though our
days are busy and stressful , to give these children the one most thing they
need to succeed,
LOVE!
For we are: "The Teacher Assistants
of Catawba County!"
