I am an eighth grade language arts teacher at Northview Middle School.  I have been at Northview, formerly College Park, for ten years.  I began the Revolutionary War newspaper project four years ago when I taught both social studies and language arts.  At that time, I put my students into groups of three, four, even five because we didn't have enough computers for individual projects.  Today I still allow them to work in pairs because it is a big project with plenty of work for two, and they have more fun with a partner.  I always ability-group my students for this project, and make sure they share the work equally.

It was fun to put this lesson plan into a WebQuest.  I haven't perfected it by any means, but I think I will continue to improve it.  They students have always liked this project, and now that they are getting all of their instructions on line, they should enjoy it even more.

This lesson allows students to develop their writing skills while studying the American Revolution.
