bullet

Introduce yourself to the class, even though they know you.

bullet

Tell why you choose X for your topic.

bullet

Try to involve the audience in the presentation, if possible.

bullet

Stand up straight, with both feet on the floor a little apart and both hands to the side or used to make relevant gestures (not in your pickets).

bullet

Make eye contact.

bullet

Don't chew gum.

bullet

Speak clearly and loudly, Your voice will carry farther if you lower it a little.

bullet

Plan a definite closure/conclusion. Ask for questions.

bullet

Dress appropriately.

bullet

Keep the presentation between 10-20 minutes. If you know you will need more time, tell the teacher far enough in advance to make sure it is allotted. Time yourself before the presentation.

bullet

Use a variety of genre and delivery methods, such as transparencies, video, graphs, charts, diagrams, PowerPoint or Flash presentations, web pages, photos, models, handouts, etc. Come prepared.

bullet

Make sure the genre are easily seen across the classroom or are copied so the whole class can look at personal copies.
