Conclusion

| Today
you have reached the end of your journey. You have traveled almost
one thousand miles in unbelievable extreme and harsh conditions. Hunger,
disease and exhaustion have taken away many of your friends and loved
ones. The land you walk on at this moment is strange and barren. Now it is
time for a new beginning, a new life in a new land. What do you
think life would be like for the Cherokee today if the Indian Removal
Act had not taken place?
Hopefully you have learned what it was like to be a Cherokee during the forced removal and why the trail is now known as "The Trail of Tears," or "Nunna daul Tsuny, the trail where they cried." |
