Task

Your job is as follows:
bulletAnswer a series of questions as you travel on your journey.
bulletWhen given a blank map of the United States, you will trace the route of the Trail of Tears, labeling states, mountains, rivers, etc. that were crossed on the journey.
bulletYou will keep a journal as you read the novel Soft Rain describing the daily struggles and hardships of the journey.
bulletUsing Microsoft Publisher, you will create a brochure depicting the life of the Cherokee prior to removal, during removal and after removal.
bulletWhen given a 3 feet x 3 feet piece of cloth, you are to determine which of your personal belonging you will take with you.
bulletCompare and contrast the land and climate the Cherokee had to leave in Georgia and North Carolina to their new land in Oklahoma. 
bulletCreate a poster of the seven clans of the Cherokee with descriptions of each clan.
bulletJust as Soft Rain's Grandmother told her stories of the "Little People", Soft Rain told stories too.  Stories are still passed down from generation to generation.  Choose one of the Native American myths or legends  from the list provided.  Read the story and be prepared to tell the story you chose to the class.  Make sure you use expression as you tell your story.
bulletComplete a vocabulary booklet with the definitions for each chapter, take the weekly vocabulary tests and complete all classroom activities.
