Introduction
Welcome to NASA Travel . Planet tours are being scheduled next year.   Your ad agency  has been hired to serve as consultants to  gather the needed information. The team  with the best presentation will be invited to be on the first NASA Travel tour to  their planet.  Good luck!


The Task
Your team has been assigned a planet to research for the NASA Travel. Your will create an Appleworks database of the information, a  display  board to advertise your planet , and a Powerpoint presentation for NASA Travel to use when they publicize the upcoming tours.

Each team will click on the planet on which they are working to find more information.

The Process
There will be 3 or 4 members on your planning team.

INDIVIDUALLY
Research your planet using the sites found under Resources.  Fill out the chart given to you by your teacher.

PLANNING TEAMS

  • Complete the worksheet using the links for each planet as well as books available for your use
  • Compare the data gathered by all the members of the planning team. If someone in the group has different information, go back to the Internet and determine the correct information. Enter the data agreed upon by the group into the Appleworks database.
  • Prepare a display board about your planet.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation to sell your planet.

  • Evaluation

    Your products will be graded using the rubric below.  Each person will receive an individual grade for the worksheet. Group grades will be given for the completion of Appleworks database, the display board, and the PowerPoint presentation.  Each part will be worth 25 points for a total of 100 points.  This grade will count as 25% of your grade for the nine weeks.

    Display Board















     

     Display Board has less than 70% of the required information is displayed. The display is sloppy and carelessly done.

    0-8 pts

    Display Board has 70-85% of the required information is displayed. It is crowded or difficult to read.

    9-16 pts

     Display Board has 86-99% of the required information is displayed. The display is pleasing to the eye and easy to read.

    17-24 pts

     

    Display Board has all required work displayed. It is uncrowded and easily read.

    PowerPoint Presentation 

     

    PowerPoint Presentation has less than 70% of the required slides and/or information. Selections for the slides backgrounds and transitions are  varied.

    0-8 pts

    PowerPoint Presentation has 70-85% of the required slides and/or information. 
    Slides are difficult to read when projected.

    9-16 pts

    PowerPoint Presentation has 86-99% of the required slides and/or information. Presentation is has minimal  flaws.

    17-24 pts

    PowerPoint Presentation has all required slices and information. Presentation is easy to read, backgrounds are uniform, and transitions are uniform.
